PLANNING - Reason for Location

PLANNING - Overview of Costumes

Mock Advertisement

The advertisement would have a full body shot of the artist same concept of standing against a wall
The fonts would be same as the album only things that would be different would be other things would be included e.g. star rating and reviews from target audience & perhaps other audiences.

Mock Digipak

This is a mock up of what I imagine my final didgipak would look like. Theres a midshot of the artist standing behind a graffitied wall. I want the wall to be graffitied specifically so that there is a link between the music video and the digipak.

The font would be some sort of urban font used for young artists & the album title would be a different font most probably yellow to symbolise the idea of lights and sparklers.

The inside would have the same intentions e.g. graffiti background and on the disc would be the art its face.

PLANNING - Do's & Don'ts

Some do's and don'ts of the design and look of my digipak and advertisement

PLANNING - Mock up of Advertisement

Heres a mock up of my advertisement poster. I've chosen to use the same colour scheme as the digipak cover to fit the theme but also the brick wall background. This poster would be in a magazine like 'Billboard' for example as it features similar artists within the genre. I'd say it would be on half a page as she is a newcomer to the music industry not having much publicity. However being in Billboard and being advertised is still something quite major for a new artist.

PLANNING - Mock up of Digipak

Close up of outside of my planned digipak
Annotation of the digipak consist of font names. I used a neutral colour scheme nothing too eccentric!
Stop motion with sparkler spelling out "after light" using it as a panoramic across the two panels.

PLANNING - Mock up Advertisement

For the advertisement i have decided to keep it simple. The background colour of the poster will be black and the image of the artist will be in the middle. The fonts for the artist name and album name will be the same as the digipaks, the colour also will stay bright yellow . I put the artists website at the bottom of the poster. The HMV and iTunes symbol are at the top left corner. The record label 'def jam recordings' which i will change to island records is on the top right corner. As for the release date i put 'OUT NOW' in a bold simple font at the bottom of the poster, this will be white. When it comes to the real poster i may change this to an actual date.

Digipak

RESEARCH - Practice on Photoshop

Practicing on Photoshop with Micky (the technician) giving basic tips and skills to using photoshop! This is my practice and we got given a few dodgy images, I thought this was a decent image to use and this is what my final product was. Excluding the barcode and little information as I didn't want to spend too much time on it as after all, it is just practice! :)

RESEARCH - Practice Digipak task

I was given a selection of badly take photos and had to pick one and create a digipack from scratch. This task taught the importance of having a good photograph and also how to get an idea/theme and keep it consistant for a professional look.

RESEARCH - Three Similar Digipaks

3 SIMILAR ANCILLARY by Slidely Slideshow

RESEARCH - Ideas for Advertisement!

Again we've come together as a geoup and discussed what we could put into our advertisement and use in our individual posters.

Ideas as a group:
- Same theme colour as Digipak
- Same imaged used on Digipak

My individual ideas:
- Same fonts
- Imagery
- Simplistic layout

RESEARCH - Digipack Ideas!

So as a group we all put our input and came up with some elements all of our digipacks could share, not entirely the same though ofcourse.

Ideas as a group:
- Colour Scheme choices of; blue, black, silver, burgandy, white.
- Name album "After Light"

My own ideas for my own digipack:
- simple font (less is more)
- stop motion of sparklers spell out artist name
- dark theme colour
- 3 panel digipack

ANCILLARY - Ancillary production Pitch / Importance of Digipak

Like it? Create your own at GoAnimate for Schools. In class we had a discussion on reasons why people buy digipak and why they are important

The reasons are
. People may still want a physical copy they maybe fans of the artist
. More effort has gone into producing the digipak therefore it would be a nice thing to own
. Digipak appeals to a more older audience which still enjoy music although dislike the new system of downloading online

RESEARCH ACILLARY - Copy of practise digipak

RESEARCHING ANCILLARY - Copy of last years digipack

RESEARCH - Copy of Last years Digigpack

This is the outcome of last years digi pack.
My weaknesses were as a class we didnt have much time to create it, which led it to being so rough. Another would be we used green screen which did NOT work well as you can see the tint of
green! I didn't put much thought into colour scheme.
My strengths was thinking of a new name for the unknown artists but also choosing a nice font to match i thought the urban look matched the style of genre and inside of packaging.

outside

inside

Learning from last years digi pack I will be able to put much more effort and time and thought into what goes into it. Also, using all primary images. Creating my own will help me put my own twist and individuality onto it, I can really be creative with it! Which is always a plus :)

Production - Rough cut

I had originally started the editig for our groups music video but unfortunately lost all my editing due to a fault in Final Cut Pro, it pulled me right down :'(

I then fell ill, which then Qudus stepped in to edit. He made a good job of the rough cut and has made it better to the final product.

My ideas and creativity were given into the editing which shots should go where etc, and it showcases through the final product.

Production - progress review blog

So i havent blogged in a while. Overall my blog post frequency has dropped immensely due to being ill majority of times... Theres been tension in the group as we've fallen out due to lack of communication.

Review on Editing: was annoying as we all wanted to put our own touch on it and contribute. Then got to the stage where one person was editing and no one else got to touch it.
I then started to do my own editing which  went okay considering i did it in a day. However it wont be shown as the final editing that Qudus produced will be our final music video, which is to a good standard.

Review on Filming: was good overall i felt myself, cindy and joyce put alot of time to get the shots we needed. Taking time out of school to get everything for the final product. Had abit of an issue moving as itis hard with the song we have but also with a big light blaring in my face! O_o
However we lacked not enough battery life on the lighting as the light would dim out really fast in out main location "bow arts lane" which is disappointing.

Review on blog: personally my own blog isnt going as well as it could be as i havent been blogging. I am trying to keep up now. I am quite disappointed in myself also for not blogging frequently and creatively :( it saddens me that i have been slipping up lately but i am soon to get back up and get back on track!

Production - Progress review blog

Individual blog count would be a total of 91! WOOP WOOP! ^_^

PRODUCTION - Progress Review Blog

Production - Finished yo! :D

So, after two gruelling weeks we've managed to finish off our music video into a final piece edited completely.

Production - Teacher feedback about final piece

Production - Progress Review blog

Looking at the blog overall i can say that the blog posts have improved. The quality of the blog posts are better and use of media is more varied.

Details of research, planning and construction stages in blog

The research and planning and construction section of the blog are stronger than than my most recent blog posts. Considering my individual posts I feel that I used more ICT in the earlier blog posts where as my most recent blog posts (Production) contain less variety of ICT. This is because this section of the course was very demanding and contained mainly group posts, I will now try to update my individual posts using different ICT instead of just text.

Dance shots - Crediting Choreographers + Disclaimer

I danced in the music video and i did a dance cover to two pieces of choreography and also did my own original choreography. A little or some of these shots will be seen in the music video therefore it is important that i credit the choreographers. I do not claim that these are my own choreography in any shape or form :)

This Choreo is by Lindsey Blaufarb, Maryss from Paris + Rino Nakasone from the Beatfreaks

Production - Rough cut - Skills development

Editing is not my strongest skill, despite this i was able to observe Kim and Qudus (allocated as main editors as agreed) editing the music video and learnt different skills such as inputting effects from within final cut pro. My contribution to the editing is definitely my ideas and assistance, also taking demands such as going out to re-take shots when needed.

Production - Skills development

A brief overview of new editing skills that i've learned during the editing of our music video? Oh so that was literally everything except for cutting, how to import files and putting on markers.

New editing skills:
  • Strobe light effect
  • Duplicate
  • Cutting between scenes very fast
  • Cutting to the beat (harder than it seems!)
  • Re-framing
  • Speed up/slowed down
  • An 'in' and 'out' effect - no idea what it's called really... :s
  • HSV adjust
  • Gamma Correction
  • Dissolves
  • Swipes
