Planning - Reflection on Progress
Reflection on Progress
I have improved by adding more ICT to the blog posts yet i need to add even more. I need to be more consistent with blogging and use a wider range of ICT. My updated mark is 16/20 because i feel like i still have lots of improvement to make, I want to clearly show my contribution and role in the group.
Planning - Analysing music videos that have influenced final planning decisions
In this clip of Katy B - Lights on , Katy B is wearing urban casual clothing similar to what our artist KIM will be wearing. 'Lights' is a motif in this music video , this will also be a motif in our music video. Luminous coloured lighting is used in the settings and locations, all of our chosen settings have a source of lighting and luminous lights.
In this clip of Professor Green - Remedy , I was specifically influenced by the mise-en-scene, we are going to use the filming at night time in the city idea as it highlights and goes back to our motif of 'light'. The idea of friends all gathering together and having fun will also be in our music video as it shows youthfulness, and gives the music video an energetic feel. The costume is also urban and casual similar to our plan for KIM's costume.
In this clip of Ellie Goulding - Burn , I liked the way that the base tracks were edited to the beat of the song and artists vocal, since our music video also has a chorus where the artists vocal dominates we could edit according to her vocals. The camerawork was simple and still ,complimenting the up beat music and the highly energetic mise-en-scene.

PLANNING - Synergy
Here, the use of synergy within the duo Disclosure is used in various ways. The same use of font of the album and poster is repeated. Another synergous aspect repeated would be the motif of the duo, being the illustrated face that represents them. Lets audience and viewers know who they're listening to. Looking at Disclosures use of synergy through these three areas of media Group 12 will also incorporate these aspects; repeating font but also motif and imagery across our digipack, poster and music video.

Planning - Analysis of orginal video
Our song choice does not have an original music video, this gives my group a greater opportunity to be more creative with our ideas for our music video. We decided that our main motif will be lights, so we will use props such as sparklers and locations such as the city to clearly show this. To give the music video a youthful and energetic feel we will edit so that it matches the upbeat tempo of the song , the cuts will be fast past.

Pitch - Audience 1
Who is your core audience?
- Our core audience is aimed at young adults, reasons for this is because it is an upbeat song very lively. Teens and young adults who enjoy partying, usually take interest in to this genre of dubstep/trap & pop.
- It will appeal to them as the clothing of the artist/participants will be on trend, but also, the atmosphere of night life relates to clubbing/night life.
Who is your wider audience?
- Our wider audience will be people who generally enjoy dubstep/trap & pop music 25+; as some of the older generation may particularly like the style of song.
RESEARCH Analysis of original song choice
Our chosen song does not have a released video, with that in mind we've carefully listened to the song trying to think of ideas which could be portrayed in the video. The main idea we've come up with it that the video should be focused on lights seeing as the song title is Afterlight. Our main motif would be lights and being more specificly sparklers. Another one of our motifs would be a black beanie. There will be shots where the main will be on these objects.

Pitch - Costume
In the music video the artist KIM will have 4 costume changes. I would describe this collection of costumes as Youthful, Urban , Casual and Edgy. KIM 's costumes mirror what you would expect to see in pop genre music videos today as they usually consist of unique costumes with popular pieces that the audience can also purchase themselves, with some edgy exclusive pieces. The audience will expect to see my artist wearing urban and edgy clothing. For the music video we chose to use casual clothing mixed with Edgy , Fun and sporty.

Pitch - Song choice
Our final song choice is "Rustie ft. AlunaGeorge - After Light".
We decided to choose this at it best suited us and we all enjoyed it and thought we could produce good ideas from it.
The song doesn't actually have an original video, this will benefit us as our final product wont be compared to the original. This allows us to come up with our own settings, locations, costumes and also concept.

Pitch - Theory
Theory
Our Music Video Will Follow Goodwin's theory on Music Videos :
The music video will be amplification as we have shots of the artist singing in different locations. The music video will be filmed at night time which links to the title of the song 'After light' . The locations will help to establish the genre which is Pop as we are filming in urban places which represent youth such as, south bank skate park and Bow Art Lane, these locations also help to establish the key theme/motif which is 'Lights' .This will create a busy atmospheric feel which will go with the upbeat and fast pace of the song. We will add more in depth meaning to the lyrics without contradicting the song's original meaning.
The artist KIM will be the narrator and participant in the music video, her image plays a big role in the music video as it is also a brand & motif creating authenticity. Repetition is important in our music video as the artist and her image, the props and costume are reoccurring from her album cover to the video, it is important because it becomes memorable and appealing to the audience. Another reason why repetition is important is so audience gets familiar with the artist.
Planning - No time to blog? Blog on the GO!
So who says that you haven't got time to blog? Just because your not at a pc or a laptop does that mean you can't blog? Huh? No sirrey! Blogger is now available as an app, and I've been blogging on the go which is quite convenient when travelling especially for the long journeys to and from college hehe

Planning - Inspired looks
Our artist look is inspired by many artists, both British and American. From the Americans we have Rihanna and Katy Perry, from the Brits we have Jessie J and Rita Ora. All of which have worked within the pop genre. The looks that all of these artist have are all bold, striking and statement looks, usually following trends which are relevant now (hipster) or setting their own trends reflecting back to the music videos. Kim (our artist) will follow trends mainly the 'hipster' look and have an urban look.
Katy Perry is a motif herself. The use of her is significant as her as an individual, she is used on her covers and music videos. This is also relevant to Jessie J as she follows the same motif.
Rita Ora follows a motif of red within her music videos and covers, the use of red shows her power as well as her being a sexy diva! This is also relevant to Rihanna as she has the same motif as well as being a motif herself.
Planning - Audience profile
Name: Fahima
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Bengali
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Bengali
Fahima
is a full time school student who lives in East London with her parents, 2 sisters and a brother. She currently has a part time job in Tescos which involves her staking shelves, taking deliveries and working on tills and yes you guessed it, she mainly shops in Tescos too as it is convenient and she gets discount (I never told you that). In her spare time she usually likes listening to music, drawing, going out with friends, usually cinemas or bowling with friends. Metro is the main newspaper she would 'bother' to read and for magazines it would be Vogue as she'd like to live the luxurious lifestyle. This being said she likes to shop in high street stores such as TopShop, New Look and H&M and sometimes she likes to splurge out a little and spends her money else where such as John Lewis or Selfridges for brands such as DKNY and Chanel. Which is funny considering she takes the bus usually whilst shopping, according to her buses are very, very, very 'convenient'. Her go to gadget which she literally can't live without is her iPhone and with her headphones on she could go on for ages with her favourite drink; Coke. Fahima's ideal holiday would be to fly over to New York or France mainly for the designer stores whereas, for relaxing she'd really enjoy a trip to Rome or Morocco so she could let off some steam, enjoy the beautiful scenery and soak up some rays. Finally, Pop is Fahima's favourite genre mainly due to Pop music videos having luxurious lifestyles as well as the beat almost always gets her into a 'grove' or a 'rhythm'.
Pitch - Detailed Risk assessment (updated)
Risk Assessment
It
is important to asses all of the risks and possible dangers so that we
can minimise all dangers which can interfere with filming.
Use of props
- Sparklers - We have to be extremely cautious when using sparklers as they are flammable . To minimise risks of being burnt we will use the sparklers responsibly following guide lines and instructions as given by the product.
Locations
- Wapping Pier - When filming near the pier we will take precautions and make sure that we stay clear of the water. We will handle the camera with care so that it doesn't fall into the water also.
- Foot Tunnel - In the foot tunnel there aren't many people around and there is more risk of being robbed. We will keep all equipment attended and within our sight.
- South Bank Skate Park - People go there to skate, we will keep out of the way of people who are skating so that we don't get hurt, damage any equipment or burn ourselves with the sparklers.
- Bow art nunnery alley way - We will keep all equipment attended at all times so that nothing is stolen or goes missing.
Equipment
- Cameras - We have to use the cameras (flip, still and JVC) with care so that it does not get damaged. We will avoid putting the camera near water and will not leave the camera unattended. We will carry the camera in the camera bag. We will not touch the lens so that it doesn't get damaged.
- Lighting - We have to be very cautious when using the lighting due to it heating up quickly as well as the battery life being poor.
- Tripod - We will use the tripod correctly and carry it in the bag so that it does not get damaged.
- Fig-Rig - This will be held correctly so that it is not damaged
Pitch - Brand image
KIM
A brand new pop artist on the scene with her brand new single After Light!
Similar artists?
The most similar artist that we've seen to Kim would be Rita Ora, Jessie J and AlunaGeorge. All of these artist have a pop element to their music, AlunaGeorge is a great example of that as our song choice is sung by her.
Costume
The get up the Kim 'rolls' in would be #swaggy... Well, that sure was something. Kim, dresses up according to latest fashion trends, especially the arrival of the 'hipster' look which goes amazingly with the locations in her new single After Light. Also, the use of her trendy looks allows Kim to relate back to her targeted audience which would be of 12 - 19 and mainly of a female audience which are all usually trendy and following latest music icons
Connecting?
Kim's image as a singer as well as a fashion icon will help connect with a wider audience. Also, her being in the pop industry allows her to connect to a wider audience as pop is a favourite genre of many people and is one of the top 10 genres within music.
Planning - Risk Assessment (RISKS, RISKS, RISKS EVERYWHERE!)

Planning - Props
Sparklers are the only use of props that we have in our music video, the use of these would be relating to one of our main motifs which is light as our final song choice is called After Light. The use of them would be throughout the chorus in the Bow Art Lane were our artist Kim will be 'chilling' out with her friends and possibly up to no good with some sparklers. We would also, try to use a shutter speed effect so that we could try spell out Kim with the sparklers giving off a beautiful and dazzling effect.
We wanted to emphasise this piece as we thought it is a strong point which alot of other artists have used well in their own music videos. Also, lighting is a key element as all of our locations are either well light up or darkened with bright lights such as lanterns, glowing backdrop etc. we think this would work effectively with the use of sparklers.
We have to be
extremely cautious when using sparklers as they are flammable . To
minimise risks of being burnt we will use the sparklers responsibly
following guide lines and instructions as given by the product.
