RESEARCH Carol Vernalis theory

Carol Vernallis studied editing and camerawork in music video. She noticed that music videos are involve more cuts than any other form of moving image like film , simply because pop videos aren't continuous and quite abstract unlike a TV soap were narrative analyses must be applied so its understood.

The rules of continuity are nit followed in music video so it draws attention more to the artist and special effects are made obvious whereas in film it'd look realistic as possible.
Vernalis states video are mainly structed by the base track.

An example of frequent jumps cuts and unrealistic is in the video down below
reasons for this is the many jumpcuts and effects are used at a fast pace which clearly is the opisite of the conuity rule.
