RESEARCH Andrew Goodwin Theory

Goodwin  states music videos do not follow traditional narrative analyses. He states that the ar artist is used as the narrator as well as the character.
He also states repetition is used a lot in videos for familiarity.Often a song is placed without the video example on the radio therefore if it is catchy it would be remembered and audience would want to find out the artist and buy the product.
He names three different ways which music videos work to promote a song

Disjuncture is where the meaning of the song is ignored and the video displays something completely different

Illustrate is where the actual meaning of the song is shown visually

Amplification is wh a video has something to do with the lyrics and also adds new meaning to the lyrics
